CI 102 Blog-Marshall's food plan

After hearing about another university's meal plan. On their meal plan, they are given 86 dollars weekly, in point form much like how Marshall uses flex points. After the week is up, if they have not spent all 86 of these dollars, the extra dollars roll over to the following week. Plus, at the end of the year, all the points they have left over can be turned into gift cards at participating establishments around the university. They can spend these points in local restaurants like Taco Bell, Buffalo Wild Wings, as well as gas stations and markets where they can buy essentials and even gas with the 86 dollars a week they are given.

For paying as much as we do, you would think they would be able to give us options like these and rewards for attending they're great university. I'd never heard of Akron University (the one whose meal plan I described above) until my friend attended there but it sure sounds like a not-so-popular university sure knows how to treat their students. Im jealous...

I AGREE...marshalls meal plans are pure horse shit...the same goes at ohio state with their meal plans...they can use there buck points anywhere and also have a gazillion places to choose from on campus...and another thing is that if you havent made it 2 the student center by 630 or the cafe by 7 then your shit outta luck... i think they should have a 24/7 place where you can get something with your meals or points...at osu you can wake up at 330 in the morning and go get a damn sub sandwich on campus...IM JEALOUS AS WELL

That is a great idea. You should present that to the student government and see what happens. I understand that the employees want to go home and everything, but we are college students- we are known for eating at weird times and we have absolutely no options on campus, and honestly it's not exactly safe to go wandering around Huntington in the middle of the night. You really should propose that idea. I know I would vote for it. : )

Wow I agree! They completely do us wrong. I mean, a meal plan is one thing, but they MAKE you get it and they MAKE you get a lot more than you need a lot of times.

The cafeterias here are a rather sad state compared to the other meal plan places I've been to or heard of. While I don't expect them to have food places like so of the better ones, they should be a lot better.

The best one I've seen was Kent State University. They had a normal cafeteria that operated off of money. You pay certain prices for what food you get, and you don't have to watch weekly amounts, just the total. There were on campus stores that were open 24 hours that allowed you to get food with your meal plan. In the one bigger store, there was a diner like area that was open for about 22 hours a day based from the meal plan. And lastly, in the student center the fast food places took money from the meal plan during their operating hours.
